Caliban

Caliban is the most successful robot ever constructed by WSU Robotics. The brainchild

of Mark Fuller (pictured below), Caliban is a 24-legged walking robot that has won

second place in two separate international robotics competitions against such teams as

Carnegie Mellon University, Universidad Panamericana, U.S. Naval Academy, Harvey

Mudd, SUNY StoneyBrook and others.

Caliban is a favorite among the students when we take him on our robotic presentations

around the Pacific Northwest. Caliban was the first of our robots fully designed and

tested on a computer prior to manufacturing any parts. From concept to final construction

took a little over three months.
